ANNAI FATHIMA CHILD WELFARE CENTRE

Mrs.Rani Krishnan, the Founder & Secretary of Annai Fathima Trust was working as a petition collector,who collects the petitions from the public and submit them to the gate security officer in charge of Thiru M.G.Ramachandran, then former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu. Mrs.Rani Krishnan worked there for 2 years. During her working period for the Chief Minister she always waited for an opportunity to express her desire to dedicate her life to the poor and the needy. Finally she got an opportunity to express her desires to the ruling Chief Minister Thiru M.G.Ramachandran who was amazed to see a young women with such a rare desire and he was very pleased to allocate her a place to start her career as a social worker. Hence the Kancheepuram District Collector allocated a place outside the city limit to establish the dream of Mrs.Rani Krishnan. At the age of 20 Mrs.Rani Krishnan was given a task beyond her imagination as she always had a limited thoughts and now she has been provided a place which could accommodate more than 100 children. Now the fear within her to accomplish the dream grew more when she was not accepted by the village people at the early 80’s. Mrs.Rani Krishnan started the Annai Fathima trust.

Trust with just 10 children and her family members to support her and give her security from the anonymous troubles given by the village leaders. Slowly as the days passed and latter she realized that it’s a year passed from the day she occupied the land at the Karapakkam village which now takes care of 183 children out of which 62 of them are the Tsunami affected children. This land and the Community were developed by William Lee Pvt Ltd., & Mr. Sree Kumar, at the time of Tsunami, expressing the generosity through supply of Food, Clothing and Shelter. And Now Mrs.Rani Krishnan after over coming many difficulties from the day one of her career is very proud to be the mother for all the children abandoned by their parents due to several reasons. In the year 2004 Annai Fathima Trust celebrated her Silver Jubilee year. At this moment Mrs.Rani Krishnan whole heartedly convey her sincere thanks and gratitude to all the esteemed people who provided her various kinds of support and also thank her mother Mrs.Alphonse Mary and her family members who assured her confidence always. We the Annai Fathima Trust are very happy to dedicate that, our success is because of each and every one of you.

FUTURE PLAN

“We have decided to open a Women's facility to accommodate nearly 50 women and girls. In addition, we plan to establish a Day Care Centre for children. The revenue generated from these initiatives will be used to support the needs of Annai Fathima Trust.

Furthermore, we are committed to building a care center for individuals who are mentally affected and physically challenged. This project will be made possible through the generous support of devoted donors like you. Your continued contributions will help us provide essential services to those in need.”

About Mrs. Rani Krishnan

Mrs.Rani Krishnan, being a native of Trichy lead her life as simple as possible which was very contradictory with her siblings. During her childhood she took her education at Holy Cross Convent in Trichy where she became very popular for her simplicity and serving nature at the age of 10





A vision of the Annai Fathima Boys Hostel.& Girls Hostel.

The building shown in the picture is the shelter home for the boys and girls of the Annai fathima Child Welfare Centre. This building was constructed with the aid provided by Mr.John Brritto, Chennai, Mrs.Vijayarani Lawrence, Mrs.Stephan,Mrs.Jaya,MrsBaanu Ramachandra and Ms.Anushia from Singapore,and Mr.Srikumar from U.S.A. We require you’re helping hand to provide the deficit commodities such as fan, cots, and stationary items. We also require funds to build proper toilets and drainage systems.

The photo shows the outside to inside view of the Annai fathima Child Welfare Centre, which houses the hostels for both the boys and girls, the Annai fathima Nursery and Primary School and some vacant space utilized by the children for playing. The picture shows the unfinished building which was intended to be a multipurpose use such as sick room, training room for tailoring, beautician course and other useful teaching to motivate the students to become entrepreneurs in future and a small auditorium to conduct cultural activities, functions and seminars.
